Our company

Valentí Puigdellívol Ardanuy, the founder of the company Fruits Secs Puigdellívol, SA, was born in 1930 in Sabadell, where he started his career in metalwork. At the age of 18, he moved to Les Garrigues. It was here that he applied his knowledge of the agricultural machinery sector to the crops found in the area: almond trees and olive trees. Thanks to his ingenuity and innovative character, he created ground-breaking machines for the treatment and harvesting of almonds and olives.

Later, due to his concerns about the quality and products of the land, Valentí Puigdellívol and his wife Teresa Sendrós started experimenting with the preparation of nuts. Aware that nuts lost most of their natural properties during the industrial processes to which they were submitted, they researched with the aim of finding a system to prepare them that was much less aggressive than the existing ones. The result was a procedure of vacuum drying at low temperatures that maintains all the natural properties of the nuts, while making them more digestible and flavoursome.

Fruits Secs Puigdellívol is a family company that tries to maintain the innovative spirit of its founder. We choose the raw materials with great excellence and prepare them with great care and conscientiousness. Our emblem is health.

Our nuts

Our nuts are natural products that are vacuum dried using a process and facilities that are original and exclusive to the company Fruits Secs Puigdellívol.

Puigdellívol has designed facilities and a process for preparing nuts that are unique in the world. This VACUUM DRYING process consists of extracting the water from the fruit at low temperatures and in an inert atmosphere, to preserve its natural qualities, avoiding the deterioration of the fats, being able to remove the shell easily (as it is indigestible) and give it a crunchy texture that is pleasing to the palate. The result is a nut that preserves all the typical qualities of the fresh fruit.

Thanks to the distinctive characteristics of the dehydration process to which they are subjected, our nuts preserve all their fats, proteins, vitamins and minerals, as well as their flavour and appearance. The intact preservation of the fats avoids premature rancidity.

The different varieties of almonds, hazelnuts and pistachios, in their natural state, constitute an unbeatable source of proteins, minerals and vegetable oils of great value to our organism. Nevertheless, the great majority of industrial processes to which nuts are submitted (when they are toasted or fried) produce an alteration in their oils, which can cause the degradation of the product, lead to digestive upsets and a higher level of cholesterol, as well as premature rancidity in the fruit.

All this, along with the complete absence of preserving agents, colourants, sweeteners or any other kind of chemical product enables us to assure, without the slightest doubt, that we offer a natural product which is highly nutritious, digestive and flavoursome. An extremely recommendable part of our diet.

Where to find us

We are in Torrebesses, a little village in the province of Lleida, in an eminently agricultural area which exclusively grows almond trees, olive trees and pistachios. Being in this area has been determining for the company, which has been dedicated to building machinery to provide solutions to the cultivation and harvesting of nuts and olives.
